Wir freuen uns, die Veröffentlichung des Tagungsbandes "Dictatorship, Democracy, and Transitional Justice in Global Legal History" bekannt zu geben. Herausgegeben von Ignacio Czeguhn und Jan Thiessen, bietet dieses Band einen Einblick in die komplexen Übergänge von Diktaturen zu Demokratien und die Rolle der Transitional Justice in verschiedenen historischen und geografischen Kontexten.
Das Sammelband präsentiert die Vorträge, die anlässlich des Symposiums »From Dictatorship to Democracy« im Haus der Wannseekonferenz vom 13.–14. September 2021 gehalten wurden. Ziel der Veranstalter war es, aufzuzeigen, welche Probleme im Zuge des Übergangs von der Diktatur zur Demokratie in mehreren Ländern weltweit bestanden. Sie alle erließen Gesetze oder andere Maßnahmen um sicherzustellen, dass die Grundrechte und die Rechtsstaatlichkeit antidemokratischen Ideologien, Antisemitismus, Rassismus und Kriegsverbrechen künftig widerstehen sollten. Rechtssystem und Recht hatten in diesen Ländern jedoch selbst ihren Ursprung häufig in der Diktatur. Es gab und gibt also demnach offensichtliche und versteckte antidemokratische Kontinuitäten, die das Recht und das Rechtswesen bis in die Gegenwart hinein beeinflussen. Wissenschaftler und Juristen aus Italien, Japan, Polen, Spanien, Südafrika und Deutschland untersuchen diese Kontinuitäten in ihren

- Italienische Transition: Analyse der Rolle von Gaspare Ambrosini im Übergang von der Diktatur zur Demokratie in Italien.
- Polnische Justiz: Betrachtung des Wandels von der Sowjetisierung zur Demokratisierung und des kommunistischen Einflusses.
- Japan und das „Comfort Women“-Problem: Auseinandersetzung mit der sexuellen Gewalt im Krieg und der Verantwortung Japans.

- Südafrika und Apartheid: Beschreibung des Übergangs von der Apartheid zur Demokratie.

We are pleased to announce the publication of the conference volume "Dictatorship, Democracy and Transitional Justice in Global Legal History". Edited by Ignacio Czeguhn and Jan Thiessen, this volume offers an insight into the complex transitions from dictatorships to democracies and the role of transitional justice in different historical and geographical contexts.
The anthology presents the lectures held on the occasion of the symposium "From Dictatorship to Democracy"
held at the House of the Wannsee Conference on September 13-14, 2021. The aim of the organizers was to show what problems existed in the course of the transition from dictatorship to democracy in several countries
existed worldwide. They all enacted laws or other measures to ensure that fundamental rights and the rule of law should resist anti-democratic ideologies, anti-Semitism, racism and war crimes in the future in the future. In these countries, however, the legal system and the law itself had their origins often in the dictatorship. There were and are therefore obvious and hidden anti-democratic continuities, that influence the law and the legal system right up to the present day. Scholars and from Italy, Japan, Poland, Spain, South Africa and Germany examine these continuities in their contributions.
